no such thing as a bad life, only bad days

At long last, it was finally that exquisitely warm and sunny day we’ve been pining for, but I’ve had better.
First BB’s daughter broke her arm while playing on our zip line. I babysat for her three siblings while her Mom carried her to the ER. They spent four hours awaiting treatment (and I think MY day was bad.) Feeling really sorry that we have that zip line at all, we have temporarily issued a moratorium on zipping until we can determine how best to outfit the damn thing with some foam cushioning.
Second, that rejection letter finally arrived. And though My Better Half thinks it’s the nicest rejection letter he’s ever seen, I’m having trouble finding the charm in it. It begins,
“This is a difficult letter to write, particularly inasmuch as I found your work quite accomplished and had thought you might earn a place in our program next academic year.”
He thought that was a difficult letter to write. He should try being the recipient. I’m licking this wound just a little, even though I knew it was a long shot. The respected director goes on to encourage me to resubmit an application for the 2008-2009 academic year. He kindly explains that there were only ten available spots this year and though I was at the top of their waiting list, of the first ten offers that were made, ten were accepted. I’m not sure, but I think this may be harder to accept than a simple, “thank you for your application but your writing sucks.”
Third, I have fed the troll and thus created a regular blog monster. I guess Jack enjoys being an ass-boil. For some, negative attention is better than none - another sign that Jack is a mental five year old. Jack thinks I’m a ‘profane skank ho who embraces censorship’. I don’t have the foggiest idea why Jack is reading a blog about marriage and children written by someone he finds so uninteresting and deplorable. I have been deleting Jack’s comments for a few days but I grow weary of this exercise. So, kind audience, please forgive me for feeding the trolls. We can all hope together that this Jack character will grow tired of being a petulant prig. Or better yet, start his own blog where we can all leave inane, off-topic remarks of the personally insulting variety and even the ante.
